LESSON 4 – INTERPRETING SURVEY DATA

Title: Interpreting Survey Data
Lesson Description: The students will learn how to analyze survey data through the use of the FIR Chart for Data Analysis.

The findings and interpretations can be organized into themes which assist in the development of recommendations.

Stage 1: Desired Outcome
Learning Objective
The student will interpret validation study data by providing a thorough analysis of the findings and developing interpretations.

  1. The student will use the Findings, Interpretation and Recommendation format when conducting data analysis.

Stage 3: Teaching and Learning Instructions
Instructor Directions
The instructor should ensure:

  1. All of the links provided in the lesson are still active.
  2. That the students post their work on individual blogs.
  3. Feedback is provided to all students.
Learner Directions
The learner is required to complete the following:

  1. You need to read through the material below and you should read CFITES Volume 8 – Validation of Instructional Programs (p. 15-22).
  2. After you have completed the readings, you will post a blog with your completed Findings, Interpretations, and Recommendations Chart.
Activity
Activity: Read CFITES Volume 8 (p. 15-22). You will be required to develop a blog post about interpreting survey data. Use the following guided questions to assist in your post: What are some challenges you expect to encounter when analyzing data? Explain What are some additional resources you can contact to assist in the interpretation and recommendation stages? Explain
Assessment
Formative: Interpret Survey Data – The students will complete a Findings, Interpretations, and Recommendations Chart using a set of scenario survey data (the stakeholders will be other students from the course –paired up by the instructor). Students will post their FIR Chart to their blog and will explain the successes and challenges.
