LESSON 3 – DESIGNING A VALIDATION SURVEY

Title: Designing a Validation Survey
Lesson Description: The students will learn about designing data collection tools and quantitative and qualitative data. Also, the students will be exposed to questionnaires and interviews collection methods.
Stage 1: Desired Outcome
Learning Objective
The student will design a validation survey based on a specific set of tasks or job.
Student Goals
  1. The student will be able to design a survey based on a qualification study.
  2. The student will be able to distribute a survey in order to gather data.
Target Audience
Training Development Officer Basic Qualification Course students (Adult Learners)

Stage 3: Teaching and Learning Instructions
Instructor Directions
The instructor should ensure:

  1. All of the links provided in the lesson are still active.
  2. That the students post their work on individual blogs.
  3. Feedback is provided to all students.
Learner Directions
The learner is required to complete the following:

  1. You need to read through the material below and you should read CFITES Volume 8 – Validation of Instructional Programs (p. 11-14).
  2. After you have completed the readings, you will post a blog with your completed Validation Survey and reflection.
Activity
Activity: Read CFITES Volume 8 (p. 11-14). You will be required to develop a blog post about the designing of a validation survey. Use the following guided questions to assist in your post: What are some advantages and disadvantages of using a survey? Explain What are some additional methods of collecting data? What are the pros and cons of these methods? Explain
Assessment
Assessment (formative): Building a Validation Survey – The students will be required to design a validation survey. They will be provided with a template to create their survey. Students will post the survey on their individual blogs.
