LESSON 2 – PLANNING A VALIDATION STUDY

Title: Planning a Validation Study
Lesson Description: Planning is a critical step in a validation study and a validation plan should be comprehensive and extremely detailed. A validation study plan should include a positive relationship between the study lead and the stakeholder. The validation plan should be focused on the validation study type including Routine check, Comprehensive review, and Focused Review.
Stage 1: Desired Outcome
Learning Objective
The student will be able to plan a validation study by providing key milestones and a scheme of manoeuvres.
Student Goals
  1. The student will be able to plan an entire validation study.
  2. The student will be able to identify all requirements for a validation study.

Stage 3: Teaching and Learning Instructions
Instructor Directions
The instructor should ensure:

  1. All of the links provided in the lesson are still active.
  2. That the students post their work on individual blogs.
  3. Feedback is provided to all students.
Learner Directions
The learner is required to complete the following:

  1. You need to read through the material below and you should read CFITES Volume 8 – Validation of Instructional Programs (p. 6-10).
  2. After you have completed the readings, you will post a blog with your completed Validation Plan and reflection.
Activity
Activity: Read CFITES Volume 8 (p. 6-10). You will be required to develop a blog post about the planning of a validation study. Use the following guided questions to assist in your post: Why should you take a strategic approach when planning a validation study? Why is the relationship with the stakeholder an important element of a validation plan? When would you use each type of study? Explain why.
Assessment
Formative: Plan a Validation – The students will be required to choose a training program to use for the planning of a validation. They will use a template to create their validation plan. Students will post the plan on their individual blogs.
